Here is a deep aqua applied blob top soda recently found. I have seen the various star based fifths, and sixths, as well as spices and pickles...but I have not run across a blob soda with this giant "supersized" star embossing. Any thoughts? Thanks! DM

Dale I have never seen anything similar to this star. I have been studying the whiskeys and Also have seen the spice bottles and don't think this is pacific glass works blown bottle. MAX
ReplyDeleteHard to tell, but I've seen almost the same design on late 1880s pickles that appear to be western. This is not PGW, but it sure could be a late 80s SFPGW bottle.
ReplyDeleteThat is the same star that's on the P&B Colusa, Ca. soda. I have dug two of those over the years.
ReplyDeleteNot familiar with the P&B - What sort of font on the embossing. Do you feel it is western?

ReplyDeleteI believe the Colusa blob is western blown...this posted soda was dug in Nevada with several definite western blob sodas. I just have not seen this particular "star" before and the very few P&B sodas I have seen, I did not recall the base characteristics.

Take a look at American Bottle Auction web site for auction 48 lot 3, and watch the video. You will see the same star on the base of a P&B Colusa soda. You might have to slow down the video.
ReplyDeletesame base for sure, the same embossing style as the curved r's embossed bottles.
