Just in from Cal49er
This rare soda was discovered earlier this week in Nevada County
The Stevens & Jose from Virginia City Nevada either took a long wagon or train ride to land up (or rather down) in a Nevada County privy. Shown above in its as found glory
It was dug with 2 Deamer Grass Valley gravitaters, 2 Deamer gob tops, a
broken Circle Cutter fifth, a mint E. Commins fifth, a broken E. Commins fifth, a nice pickle and the
usual suspects in the hole.

Great dig!! and thanks for the report - rs
Nice dig guys ! That's the second Stephens & Jose I've heard of being dug in Northern Ca in the past yr. Too bad the Thos Taylor 1/5's didnt venture out of VC as well, and make it down into Ca.....
ReplyDeleteIs that E. Commins 1/5 a red-whittle glop top?
AP
The glob was broken and the tool top was mint Go figure. MAX
ReplyDeleteSounds like my story I found a Mint and very crude e commons tooltop that should have been an a glop top and also a red amber glop top completely shattered.
ReplyDeleteThat's a trip guys. I had the same occurance w/ E. Commmins' about 5 yrs ago. There were 2 of them in the pit, and the toolie was mint and the glob red-amber was broken (but not smashed... just the top was off, which I found and glued back on) !!
ReplyDeleteAP
The tooltop was so nice an example ,the best example in fact I have seen, that it ..almost made up for the glop.
ReplyDeleteI just found a bottle and it says Deamer Grass Valley, on the opposite side it says W.E.D. So look up Deamer and came across your story in the Digging news it's in perfect shape exempt a very tiny nick on top just wanted to know the history and value.
