High Country Diggers Beware!
You always know it's spring up here in the high country when these hungry guys start making a nuisance of themselves. By the looks of this yearling he could use a few square meals.
Solid strike on that Bear! Looks like a soon to be 2-Name Pioneer Bear with a lot of character in a nice golden-amber! It sure seems like the 2-Name Bear in the auction petered out pretty quick for what looked like a problem free, worthy example! Had I known it would've hovered that low, I would have sold off some lower end glass to try and compete for it. Hindsight is always 20/20 I guess, right? And I nearly forgot this is the "Bitters" site...better retreat back to the Whiskey blog camp.
Seems like the bitters remained quite strong in the auction...
Bears can be a major PITA. Last year, one of the devils decided to rip a window out of my Sierra cabin and take a look around inside. not only did he destroy a 90 yr old window, but he also tore off a piece of the redwood siding. The bear didn't do much inside, but the coons that followed him in really tore he kitchen up. That caper cost me about what a "1-Name Bear" would fetch. That bugger won't be bothering any more cabins, though. My trusty .45-90 Winchester put out his lights.
There will be some forthcoming information concerning the most recent auction.
OC, I would like your take on auction 50. I'm still sitting here with my mouth hanging open. Lots of big money changed hands on, in my opinion, some not so big money items, rs
Oh, speaking of "lights" I've had to light up my share of those big moochers. Soon as they start "breaking and entering" their days are numbered up this way. rs
The local Game Warden sees no evil and advises the three "S"s., Shoot, Shovel and Shut Up. One weak individual can''t get the beast in the PU, but a rope around the hind legs makes a perfect drag. Down the road and over the side.
RS, d'ya mean the "Goofy-sotts"? $350, plus BC sounds like a lot for that bottle. Is there something about it that is different from the one's we dig out here, other than being oval? Enlighten me.
The one that totally blew me away was that broken and filled Bryants. Someone is either off his nut or in love with the shape. NO partial bottles should EVER hammer 40 Thou.
The bears arent all you have to watch out for, the pot growers are not particularly friendly either. and the BLM coppers will bust you fast! Its gettin purty exciting out in the old west anymore, also the abds are fast getting to be everwhere.......Andy
