This very nice dark green small letter variant of the Dr. Renz's Herb Bitters was liberated yesterday afternoon from it's 140 yr old resting place in the confines of a vintage privy. I had no hand in this find, other than the one in the photo. The bottle, along with numerous other late 1860s and early '70s vessels, was uncovered by "Chalmers", a knowledgeable and very persistent digger. Let's suffice to say that this Bitters was found in an outhouse along a major thoroughfare down the valley a piece. A super "score" to say the least, it will only require a short "muriatic nap" to cleanse itself of the privy residues.
